“As thrilling a knitting of dance, music and spectacle as a British theatre can ever have seen”
– Daily Telegraph, UK

"Hofesh Shechter’s rock-god energy and raw power have made him dance’s  hottest property”
– The Sunday Times, UK

Relentless, intense and explosive
A pulsating fusion of classical and rock music
Hofesh Shechter adds a fiery cool to today’s dance scene

Rocketing to recent stardom on the international dance stage, Israeli-born, London-based choreographer Hofesh Shechter builds from a modern dance foundation to mesh Middle Eastern folk dance and visceral physicality into an electrifying take on human nature and overall existence in his bold work.

Charged with combative power and emotional tension, productions of Political Mother have swept through arts festivals in the UK, France, Germany and Australia. Dancers raise their fists and roar, move between roles of criminal and warrior, and live in the shadow of a dictatorial figure who whips up emotions like a rock star. With these potent allegories and social references, and Shechter’s self-composed score juxtaposing classical music with driving rock,Political Mother sculpts its furious, ever-shifting, shuffling sequences into a primal and profound contemporary dance experience saturated with mesmeric brilliance.
