如何在英語中使用情態動詞 will’

你有信心用英語談論未來時？ 

你可能會說：英語並沒有將來時態。相反，我們會根據談論將來事件的方式，使用不同動詞形式的組合。我們通常將動詞 will 與「談論未來」聯繫起來，但事實並非如此簡單。Will 是情態動詞。在學習英語的過程中，你會知道英語情態動詞帶有幾種不同功能。想了解更多，歡迎繼續讀下去。  

何時使用英語動詞 will？  

will 的其中一個常見用法，是談論我們認為 (但並非百分百確定) 會發生的事情，可用於現在及將來：  

“Where’s Jim?Is he here?” (Jim 在哪裡？他在這裡嗎？) 

“No, it’s only 4pm, I think he will be at the office.” (不在。現在才下午 4 點，我想他還在辦公室。) 

If we leave at 7 A.M, I hope we will have enough time to get there. (如果我們早上 7 點出發，希望趕得及到達。) 

另一例子是對未來進行預測： 

Jason predicts his company profits will grow by 5% next year. (Jason 預測公司的利潤明年會增長 5%。) 

Jin doesn’t want to visit Spain in August - it’ll (it will) be too crowded. (Jin 不想在 8 月份去西班牙 — 到時那裡會太擁擠。)  

我們亦可以用 will 來表達提議、承諾和請求。 

Come over later, I’ll (I will) help you with your presentation. (待會兒過來，我會幫你準備簡報。) 

I promise I will come to your party on Saturday. (我答應你星期六會來參加派對。) 

Will you let me know what time the meeting ends? (你會告訴我會議什麼時候結束嗎？) 

我們還可以用 will 來表達做某件事的決心。 

I will finish this job application today, even if I have to stay up all night! (我今天要完成這份求職申請，就算熬通宵亦在所不惜！) 

will  的另一個用法是在說話的同時作出決定 — 其中一個好例子，就是在餐廳裡點菜：  

“What would you like to order?” (你想點些什麼？) 

“Uhm..I will have the salad for a starter and a falafel with hummus for my main course.” (嗯…開胃菜我想要一份沙律，主菜就要一份油炸鷹嘴豆餅。)

剛開始學英語時，我們總會學到用 Will 來談論將來 — 不過，談論將來的最常見方式之一，是講述既定計劃，反而一般不會使用 Will，而是用到現在進行式或 (be) going to：  

This weekend I’ll go to my grandmother’s house by the beach. (這個週末我會去我外婆位於海邊的家。)​ｘ​  
This weekend I’m going to my grandmother’s house by the beach. (這個週末我會去我外婆位於海邊的家。)​✓​    

另一個常見錯誤是在 when、as soon as、before and after and  if. 等字詞後面使用 will。, ,    

When I will be eighty, I will be living in a beautiful house by the sea.​ｘ​  (當我 80 歲時，我將會住在海邊一棟美麗的房子裡。) 
When I am eighty, I will be living in a beautiful house by the sea. (當我 80 歲時，我將會住在海邊一棟美麗的房子裡。)​✓​  

Call me as soon as you will get home.​ｘ​  (你到家後立即打電話給我。) 
Call me as soon as you get home.​✓​  (你到家後立即打電話給我。)   

雖然這些字詞意指將來，卻可搭配現在式使用。
