Role overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to join our dynamic teaching team starting in August 2018. We are keen to appoint teachers who can demonstrate a high level of professional skill and willingness to learn and develop. We offer a 35-hour-per-week contract which involves up to 21 classroom hours a week.
As a large teaching centre with a range of kindergarten, primary, secondary, and adult courses you will be required to work a Wednesday to Sunday timetable (Monday/Tuesday weekend) or a Saturday to Wednesday timetable (Thursday/Friday weekend). Current operational requirements mean that the centre is particularly looking for teachers with experience in and preference for Young Learners, although by no means exclusively.
In our teaching centre we aim to provide the best English language teaching available. For this reason we also require:
- education to degree level or equivalent qualification
- a certificate level TEFL qualification (Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL)
- a minimum of two years teaching experience post-TEFL qualification or a PGCE with QTS status
- high proficiency in the use of the English language equivalent to IELTS band 9
- evidence of specific behavioural competencies
For more details of TEFL qualifications, please see here:

Desirable criteria found in the role profile document may be used during the selection process.
Training and development are an integral part of the British Council culture and in Hong Kong we provide a wide range of opportunities to enable our teachers to develop professionally, including an extensive internal development programme, support and funding in obtaining internationally recognised qualifications, as well as opportunities to present at renowned conferences around the globe.
