British Council offers free demonstration lessons for Secondary students to help them prepare well for school exams and DSE
Attend Open Day at new English Language Centre in Tsuen Wan for free Primary Plus demonstration lessons and to experience an English-only environment

To help students prepare for the challenges in the new school year, this September the British Council will organise free English demonstration lessons of Secondary and DSE courses as well as Primary Plus courses at the English Language Learning Centres in Admiralty, Aberdeen and Tsuen Wan. During the demonstration lessons, students experience an English-only environment and receive useful tips for learning English. Parents can help their children choose the right courses through observing the lessons and learning the features of the English courses. The British Council also offers free English level tests for Primary three to Secondary six students. Professional English Services Consultants will assess students’ English ability and results will be given on the same day. This will help students address their weaknesses in learning English. Parents can attend Parents’ Information sessions and learn how to help their children at home with English. Additionally, the new English Language Centre in Tsuen Wan will open in September to provide primary and secondary English courses to serve students in the area. Parents and children can take part in the centre’s open day in September and find out about our unique teaching methodology.

About the British Council

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and build trust between them worldwide.

We work in more than 100 countries and our 8,000 staff – including 2,000 teachers – work with thousands of professionals and policy makers and millions of young people every year by teaching English, sharing the arts and delivering education and society programmes. In Hong Kong, we have been doing this since 1948, giving people opportunities to learn, share and connect worldwide.

We are a UK charity governed by Royal Charter. A core publicly-funded grant provides 20 per cent of our turnover which last year was £864 million. The rest of our revenues are earned from services which customers around the world pay for, such as English classes and taking UK examinations, and also through education and development contracts and from partnerships with public and private organisations. All our work is in pursuit of our charitable purpose and supports prosperity and security for the UK and globally.
