British Council offers fun and interactive English courses for Christmas holidays

Register on or before the 7 December 2015 to enjoy a 10% discount

2 Nov 2015 (HONG KONG) – This Christmas, the British Council is introducing fun and interactive Winter Intensive Courses for students to learn English through Christmas-related topics and activities, such as D.I.Y. Christmas gifts, studying seasonal rhyming poems and songs, writing about polar bears, and more, which will help improve your child’s all-round English language skills. These fun and rewarding courses are designed for K1 – S2 students, and are being taught by British Council’s internationally qualified teachers in an English-only learning environment

This year, the British Council has extended the Winter Intensive Courses to Kindergarten 1 students by introducing the brand new course – D.I.Y. “Christmas Gifts” – which helps students to expand vocabulary and build their English communication skills by creating a Christmas gift for parents with fun materials. Other Kindergarten courses include Winter Wonderland – English through Poetry, which helps Kindergarten 2 students to build their confidence and creativity by studying a variety of seasonal rhyming poems and songs, and Christmas Adventures, which unlocks Kindergarten 3 students’ inner creativity through stories, poems, treasure hunts, crafts and role plays

For Primary students, the British Council provides courses which help improve their reading and writing skills during the Christmas break. The English Escapades course develops Primary 1 students’ reading and communication skills through writing greeting cards, making a book cover and participating in problem-solving activities, like directing classmates to get through a maze. The Creative Writing Club develops Primary 2 students’ comprehension and writing skills by helping them write their own play which will be performed at the end of the course. Read to Succeed helps Primary 3-4 students practise their comprehension skills through lessons focused on reading children’s literature based on the themes of animals and the natural environment. Because Primary 5-6 students will attend Secondary 1 admission interviews soon, the British Council’s specially-designed Interview Skills for Secondary 1 Admission provides interview practice for students and teaches them how to answer questions effectively and prepare well for the school interviews

The highly popular ‘Say It with Style’ course, available for Secondary 1-2 students, develops the skills needed for the School-Based Assessment, and teaches learners how to speak confidently through activities such as presentations, interviews and surveys, while also improving their range of vocabulary for exams.

Winter Intensive Courses will be held from the 28th to the 30th of December 2015 at the British Council Admiralty English Language Centre. The courses are open for registration now. An early bird discount of 10% will be offered to students who register on or before 7 December 2015.

About the British Council

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and build trust between them worldwide.

We work in more than 100 countries and our 8,000 staff – including 2,000 teachers – work with thousands of professionals and policy makers and millions of young people every year by teaching English, sharing the arts and delivering education and society programmes. In Hong Kong, we have been doing this since 1948, giving people opportunities to learn, share and connect worldwide.

We are a UK charity governed by Royal Charter. A core publicly-funded grant provides 20 per cent of our turnover which last year was £864 million. The rest of our revenues are earned from services which customers around the world pay for, such as English classes and taking UK examinations, and also through education and development contracts and from partnerships with public and private organisations. All our work is in pursuit of our charitable purpose and supports prosperity and security for the UK and globally.
