Access Abroad Hong Kong is a Section 88 HK-government registered charity that supports local Hong Kong students in UK university admissions. Please refer to our linktree (https://linktr.ee/aahk) and website (https://accessabroadhk.org/) for more information on our programmes.
Our flagship free mentorship programme pairs 1 under-resourced secondary student mentee (the year they are applying to university) with 1 university student mentor; we support around 80 mentees annually through university and scholarship applications. We guide mentees every step of the way, from personal statement, to aptitude tests, to academic interviews, to scholarship applications. Mentees are matched to mentors based on their university and subject preferences. They also have access to career and life planning workshops and guidance.
In addition, we also run various other outreach programmes related to studying in the UK: a summer bootcamp for younger students, online and in-person talks at different schools and organisations, and an essay competition which sends the winners on an all-expenses-paid trip to London and Cambridge. Together, our various outreach programmes directly engage more than 1000 local school students each year.
In the past 7 academic years we have helped 70 local school mentees in achieving offers from Oxbridge (with 18 Oxbridge offers in 2024!), with 50+ full scholarships. Our good work has been featured in Ming Pao, HK01, Sing Tao Daily, TOPick, and SCMP (https://www.accessabroadhk.org/%E5%AA%92%E9%AB%94%E5%A0%B1%E9%81%93).
