In partnership with Leisure and Cultural Services Department, British Council is delighted to invite you to join conversations with renowned Hong Kong music experts, who will share their insightful thoughts on the relationship between London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle, and the orchestra’s wide spectrum of programmes in The Saturday Music Talks.

Beyond National and International: LSO and Rattle

In this talk, Professor Chan Hing-yan will dialogue with conductor Lio Kuokman on a wide array of topics: Sir Simon Rattle's taste in repertoire, the 2017-launched LSO-Rattle era, the LSO's long tradition of never submitting to one principal conductor for long, the orchestra's innovative programming, as well as its leading-edge educational and outreach initiatives etc.

In this talk, Hong Kong composers Fung Lam and Charles Kwong shall share their observation on the LSO's dynamic and forward-looking programmes, with an emphasis on significant premieres over the years, and discuss the importance of diversity in a modern-day orchestra's programming.
