Explore the creative possibilities around the overlap between dance and sport with a view to developing a futuristic festival.
“At Your Leisure Hong Kong” is a collaborative project between UK-based dance company Room 2 Manoeuvre and Hong Kong- based Kalos Productions HK. This project explores the creative possibilities around the overlap between dance and sport with a view to developing a futuristic festival. At SPARK and beyond, there are three ways that audiences can engage with this work:
Run HK – A digital interactive activity inspired by dance and running.
A digital interactive activity that allows you to take a virtual run through the streets of Hong Kong. You can enjoy a run wherever and whenever you want, including from the comfort of your own home, with only an internet connection and the camera on your laptop, phone or tablet device. During the run, participants will be encouraged to engage with the research findings of local dance artist Natasha Lo. These include video, images and writing inspired by the creative interconnections between dance and running.
Run HK was conceived by Room 2 Manoeuvre (UK), supported by Kalos Productions (HK) and developed by Fox Dog Studios (UK). Suitable for ages 10+.
Track Your Track – Two composed soundscapes available for download to listen and run to.
Running on the streets has become more commonplace in Hong Kong during the pandemic.
Kalos Productions HK have worked with Hong Kong dance artist Natasha Lo and sound artist Cyrus Tang to create two composed soundscapes for the public to download and run to. You will be able to listen at any time and experience a very personal journey with us.
Suitable for ages 12+.
Alley Oop – online dance film and workshop where dance meets basketball.
Dance meets Basketball in Alley Oop, a fun, energetic duet that explores what it takes to bounce back from a fall, leap into the unknown and, when the pressure is on, how we need to work together to make that slam dunk. Alley Oop was developed by Room 2 Manoeuvre’s Tony Mills and Hong Kong based artist Yip Chan.
