Or is there?
Caius Martius Coriolanus.
A great general. A proud nobleman. An inept politician.
Brave on the battlefield. Contemptuous of common people. Inflexible in government.
Rome is under attack. Only Coriolanus can defend her. Having successfully defeated Rome’s attacker, Coriolanus is given a hero’s welcome and the offer of a high post in government. But his pride and stubbornness immediately turns him into the chief enemy of an angry people.
This is a story about the conflict that lies at the heart of every public figure: the private war between personal integrity and popularity.
This is the story of our time.
