With over a million East Asian students studying in the UK in the past decade, representing 32% of the international student population, it's more crucial than ever to provide a seamless and enriching student experience.  

Following the success of the inaugural East Asia Higher Education Week in Malaysia in March 2024, British Council is excited to announce the second East Asia Education Week, in Hong Kong from 5-7 March 2025. The event will be held at The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam. 

Building on the success of the inaugural event, this year's focus is on empowering students throughout their study journey and beyond. The event in Hong Kong will equip agents with the latest insights, foster stronger partnerships, and create networking opportunities for UK alumni.  

Key Highlights: 

  • East Asia Agent Conference: This conference will delve into the latest updates in UK international education policy, the evolving UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF), and the transformative role of technology in the agent industry. As demographics shift and clients become increasingly digitally savvy, agents must adapt to meet the evolving needs of the market. 
  • Alumni UK Alumni Symposium: This event will bring together UK alumni in East Asia to discuss emerging trends in business and technology, share experiences, and build valuable connections. The symposium will provide a platform for professional networking and knowledge exchange, empowering alumni to drive positive change within their communities.

Higher Education Mission to Hong Kong

The mission for UK Vice-Chancellors to Hong Kong aims to strengthen ties between the higher education sectors of both regions. It focuses on UK profile-building, research partnerships, and understanding Hong Kong's evolving research and innovation landscape. Key themes include cultural and creative industries, allied health science and big data in healthcare, as well as technology transfer and commercialisation of intellectual property.

With the theme of “Innovate for a sustainable future”, the Conference will address key industry issues, focusing on UK policy updates post-election, developments in the UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF), and the impact of new technology on business development.
