In the wake of the climate crisis, postcolonial historian Dipesh Chakrabarty has called for a new understanding of history that no longer separates human activities from natural processes. With global health and economic turmoil, it is becoming increasingly evident that our individual health and well-being are intrinsically linked to the health of others, our communities, societies, and the planet's ecosystems. Our proposed project will delve into this interconnectedness by exploring the concept of ‘sonification’ using state of the art recording and sounding methodologies in order to understand and foster a deeper connection between our bodies, minds and the ecosystems in and around us.
As global health crises and environmental upheavals highlight the intrinsic ties between individual and societal wellbeing and planetary health, this project embraces the notion of ‘sonification’—using cutting-edge methodologies to convert ecological data into sound, to tap into hidden rhythms, from seismic activity to changes in air quality, human health and environmental change.
Harnessing the transformative power of sound, the exhibition aims to Listen to environmental changes —translating imperceptible ecological processes into sonic experiences to urge collective action on issues of planetary health and wellbeing.
